Sometimes referred to as grandmas candy dish, these jars are fantastic and unique gifts and they also make great desk decorations for your office or coffee table!
Each lid was poured using several layers of colorful acrylic paint and a straw blow technique. After drying, I coated each lid in several layers of clear epoxy resin. The last step was to reassemble the lid back into the locking mechanism, ensuring the lid closes and the seal completes tightly.
For the jar itself, I created a design in Cricut and used a multi-color shiny foil permanent vinyl. After placing it on the jar, I then used multiple layers of Mod Podge sealer to ensure the vinyl doesn’t peel off. This caused a slight frosted effect over the design.
The candy jar stands 4 inches tall and is 4 inches in length and width. It is not tall enough to store full sized candy bars but you should probably eat those anyway. I mean, whys hare, right? Perfect for smaller candies or mini-sized bars.
To care for the jar, it should be hand washed only with no scrubbing on the outside. This may damage the vinyl (even though it is permanent vinyl). I would just quickly spray the jar and let air dry. There is no design, decoration, or material for the interior so if you want to scrub out the insides with soapy water, that will be fine. This is NOT meant for the dishwasher or hot water. Hot water can and will damage the resin on the lid and could also affect the acrylic paint under the resin.
